This week two Spanish managers (Juande Ramos & Rafa Benitez) facing different obstacles this weekend after Ramos lost to Liverpool and Benitez wins on and off the pitch (won in Bernabeu and Parry departure)
He concede his second lose as Real Madrid Manager in 12 games, all his good work with Real Madrid now is under questions after Liverpool defeat at The Santiago Bernabeu (0-1) during the first leg of last 16 round of The Champions League.
Obviously Benitez won tactically and the game, Benitez ultra defensive approach proves to be decisive. Ramos couldn’t figure out a way to beat Liverpool defense, he use one substitute (Guti in for Marcelo) hoping Guti can open up Liverpool wall which was never happen.
Juande now face tough task to bring his squad together and focus in La Liga next match against Espanyol (last week they beat Barcelona away 1-2). Madridista fans not sure if they really have chances to win any silverware as both La Liga and Champions League is difficult tasks for them.
Rumors before Liverpool’s big match against Real Madrid suggest that Benitez had been sacked, although Benitez remind everybody why he is a great manager as Rafa again show his geniuses with master class tactical game in Madrid to see them take a massive advantage (0-1 away win) to be the favorite to qualify into the last 8 round in Champions League.
Now the CEO of Liverpool Rick Parry FC is leaving by the end of this season many believes that Benitez won a major political game. Rafa thoughts that Parry was not a good transfer executer (remember G.Barry transfer saga) and how Benitez sold R.Keane back to Tottenham all these incidents show huge disagreement between the two men.
Parry was important in recruiting Benitez from Valencia summer of 2004, also he had a major role in American pair (Tom Hicks and George Gillett) Liverpool take over two years ago.
Hicks is Rafa ally, and he got the power over Gillett who many believe is close sell his share and head to the exit door.
Factors will affect Rafael Benitez contract renewal:
- Barry exit and the new CEO
- Resolving Ownership problem
- Transfers budget
- Rafa job demands approved (more control on Youth Academy & transfers)
Finally Rafa said his contract issue should come to conclusion soon:
We will have conversations in the next days with advisers of the owners and see how we progress……We are very close but again I would say my contract is not the main thing now. It is keeping the team in a very good position
